Art
Artists profile:
Alex E Scheibner comes from a family that holds artistic pursuits as fundamental to life. Both sides of his family tree has members that are either part time or full time artists, in Europe and Australia. Utilising his training in blacksmithing and metal work Alex uses a vivid imagination and one-off metal sculptures as a way of relaxing from crafting purely functional items. Some of Alex's artistic work takes on a functional role as well - this is a line that is often blurred in Alex's work. His sculptures regularly explore aspects of life ranging from weed control to industrial accidents.
"The freedom of creating something that exists just to be viewed and doesn't necessarily have to fit the body or perform a set task is very liberating. I let my imagination have free run of my hands and surrender to what comes out. This often leads to a series of sculptures with a common theme."
